NaphCare, a national leader in correctional healthcare, is proud to announce that Ashley Atkinson, Senior EHR Product Manager and a registered nurse working with the Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC), was honored today with a Governor’s Proclamation and the Commissioner’s Coin of Excellence, presented by the Georgia Board of Corrections and Commissioner Tyrone Oliver.
Ashley's work on the TechCare rollout is a testament to the kind of excellence and innovation that drives NaphCare’s mission, and this recognition by the state of Georgia is deeply deserved.
Atkinson was one of four nurses statewide selected for the honor. She was nominated by Georgia Department of Corrections staff and chosen by Assistant Commissioner Randall Sauls and Commissioner Oliver in recognition of her exceptional contributions to patient care and leadership in advancing healthcare technology across the GDC’s Office of Health Services.
The recognition was presented during the May 7 meeting of the Board of Corrections as part of a special ceremony honoring nurses and correctional officers across the state in observance of National Nurses Week, May 6–12.
During the award presentation, Assistant Commissioner Sauls highlighted Atkinson’s pivotal role in the statewide rollout of TechCare, NaphCare’s proprietary electronic health records system. Over the course of the implementation, Atkinson trained more than 2,000 GDC employees, delivering comprehensive training before, during, and after go-live, including multiple day-long sessions with GDC staff. She also developed two customized training programs tailored to the specific needs of the physical health and mental health audit teams within the Office of Health Services.
"Ashley played a crucial role in the rollout of TechCare for the Office of Health Services,” said Assistant Commissioner Sauls. “She provided comprehensive training before, during, and after the rollout … Her knowledge, leadership, partnership, and teaching have been vital to the success of TechCare."

In 2025, NaphCare successfully launched TechCare at 62 GDC facilities, managing health records for over 41,000 patients.
