NaphCare proudly congratulates Dr. Darrelle Knight on her appointment to the Institutional Non-hospital seat on the Alabama State Board of Pharmacy, effective January 1, 2026.
The Alabama State Board of Pharmacy is a nine-member governing body that provides leadership and oversight for pharmacy practice in Alabama. Its responsibilities include licensure of pharmacy professionals and facilities, establishment of professional standards, and ensuring the safe and appropriate compounding, distribution, and dispensing of medications in Alabama.

Dr. Knight serves as Chief Pharmacist at NaphCare in Birmingham, where she has built an impactful career in correctional pharmacy since joining the company in 2008. Her work blends operational leadership with clinical innovation and a strong mission focus, advancing access to safe, effective medication management in underserved jail and prison settings.
In her role at NaphCare, Dr. Knight has led initiatives to improve medication-use processes, scale pharmacy operations, and implement systems that integrate technology, quality, and compassionate care. She actively supports adaptability and lifelong learning, and encourages future pharmacy leaders to embrace the evolving role of technology—including artificial intelligence—in patient care.
Dr. Knight’s leadership has been recognized across the state and beyond. In 2024, she was named one of the Birmingham Business Journal’s “Women to Watch.” In 2025, she was featured in Equal Opportunity magazine, highlighting her leadership and mission-driven impact in correctional pharmacy.
