NaphCare Wins a Competitive Bid to Provide Medical Services at the Federal Correctional Institution in Phoenix, AZ
BIRMINGHAM, AL — NaphCare, Inc., an independent partner to correctional facilities nationwide for innovative healthcare management and technology solutions, was recently selected by the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) to provide the medical services for inmates housed at the Federal Correctional Institution located in Phoenix, Arizona (FCI Phoenix). The contract award is a new site for NaphCare, bringing the total count of BOP sites for the company to 30 nationwide.
FCI Phoenix has three designated facilities that house approximately 1,300 inmates. The facilities include a Camp, a Medium security building, and a Federal Detention Facility (FDC). The arrangement calls for NaphCare to maintain full responsibility to oversee all off-site care when an inmate’s health requires a hospital or doctor visit outside of the institution. This centers around using proven cost-saving strategies common in the private sector, including negotiating discounted rates at area hospitals, ensuring that only approved and medically necessary care is administered, and reviewing every medical claim for accurate billing and coding. In addition, the prison receives a full array of services that include network development and contracting, appointment scheduling, and a web-based medical records system to better manage inmate healthcare and costs.
“NaphCare is excited about this new partnership with FCI Phoenix, and we are committed to working side-by-side with the prison to improve care for each and every inmate patient as efficiently as possible,” said Yolanda Walker, NaphCare’s Senior Vice President of Federal Prisons. “Our goal is to exceed the expectations of the BOP and FCI Phoenix.”
